Enews - June 26

Severe Thunderstorms/Flash Flooding Expected Today, June 26th

A Flood Watch has been issued for the western end of Montgomery County starting at 2pm and ending at midnight, which could expand to eastern Montgomery County as the storm progresses. Excessive rainfall rates could result in scattered local flash flooding, especially in urban areas and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Severe thunderstorm possibility has been upgraded to an enhanced risk, with numerous severe thunderstorms now probable. The expected timing of severe thunderstorms is between 2pm and 10pm moving west to east, with the greatest potential after 4pm.

Damaging wind gusts of 60-70mph and large hail are possible, which would likely damage trees and power lines. Storms should produce frequent cloud to ground lightning. Tornado potential is low. Greatest damaging wind potential will come with any organized squall line that develops.

Information provided by the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety.
