Towamencin Township & Municipal Authority Awarded Local Share Account Funding
On Tuesday, we learned that the Township and the Towamencin Municipal Authority were both awarded grant funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s PA Local Share Account (LSA) Program. The awarded projects were the Grist Mill Improvements Phase 1 for $175,000, and Phase 2 for the Skippack Creek Interceptor Project (TMA) for $400,000. The Grist Mill Park Project will include: a pavilion, an inclusive playground, a basketball court, cornhole courts, game tables, handicapped parking and a perimeter trail. While the Skippack Creek Interceptor Project (Phase 2) would consist of the replacement of 15” and 18” sections of sewer interceptor pipe.
We are grateful to State Representative Liz Hanbidge and State Senator Tracy Pennycuick for supporting these projects and for their continual assistance as we explore and apply for various funding opportunities to help advance the Township’s improvement and infrastructure plans/projects.
Towamencin's Citizens Police Academy Review
On Thursday night, October 24, the Citizens Police Academy inaugural class concluded with each community member receiving a certificate of participation. The six-session program covered department history and operations, traffic enforcement, special units, and various patrol topics. At the last class, participants learned about use of force scenarios through an interactive video simulator system.
Lt. Wainwright noted the Academy received a lot of positive feedback. The experience was appreciated by the citizens and members of the police force, who facilitated the sessions and provided demonstrations. Class participants were engaged throughout the program, resulting in many thoughtful discussions. Most importantly, participants became better informed on the role the Police plays in the community. Congratulations to all who participated!
The Police Department is planning to continue the Academy in 2025. Details will be posted to the Township and Police website and respective Facebook pages.
